Hello – just a short note from myself on behalf of the small merry band of volunteers, this year under the new regulations concerning airshows and now under the Military Aviation Authority (MAA), we achieved a safe and successful show. Items ranged from the Thames Valley Police Horse mounted division, to Ferret racing, Williams F1 Car, Vintage Cars, Music, Stone wall maker & Hedge layer, to about half the expected aircraft flying in (due to weather around the UK) and highlights in the Flying display including the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire & Hurricane, to the worlds only Bristol Blenheim bomber.
Although as always there were a few minor points to re-address from showday, all seemed to go well with many happy faces. I wish to thank all participants, exhibitors, you the public and Defence Organisation Infrastructure (DIO), Abingdon Airfield Dalton Barracks – in particular Colonel Paul Fish, the Station Commander at Abingdon. The Belgian Air Force were also especially welcome sending an NH-90 Caiman Helicopter – a rare visit to the UK.
Once all bill are paid and a residue of money left in the show accounts to help for 2017, we will decide on a suitable donation for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance Trust.
We will upload some 2017 images from across the spectrum of the show soon. Also, watch out for a short film on the 2017 show
Finally – our next show is set for Sunday 14th May 2017.
