Firstly on behalf of the small voluntary committee members, i wish to say a big thank you to all the supporters and first timers attending this years 18th annual Air & Country Show, held on Sunday 14th May.
However, being the first time on the eastern side of the airfield which was moved from the usual western side due to increasing Flying Display safety under the Military Aviation Authority regulations, it did cause problems for public getting in and back out so we apologise for this, and will work on a new improved system to get you, the public in quicker both within Traffic Management and through the Paygate in 2018 with more stringent checking as we did lose some money by people getting in for free!
Talking of 2018, internally a lot of re-organisation will take place and the layout will be tweaked to make more compact, however due to increasing costings, and more stringent rules for Flying Displays which even in the new layout is still not as straight forward as you think, the show will carry on in some form but more than likely a reduced Flying Display program but an increased aircraft ‘Fly In’ together with the Ground attractions to produce a varied day of action.A Royal Air Force 100th anniversary theme will also be marked in our own style and way.
A thank you needs to go out to all the Participants both Pilots, Traders, Exhibitors and Dalton Barracks.
A news update on the Twister Display Pilot who’s aircraft unfortunetly suffered mechanical failure with a subsequent force landing is recovering well and now back flying again, a remarkable recovery.
A donation will be given to the Thames Valley Air Ambulance Trust later in the year once all the overheads have been paid and to see what finances we need in the show account to help finance the 2018 show.
Please keep updated via our twitter page / facebook pages and this news page.
Thank you again for your support in one of Abingdons main events of the year.
2018s date is set for Sunday 6th May – back to our traditional early May bank holiday weekend.
